Welcome to our blog! We are four cousins from a southern Italian family. We are very different but we get along quite well, and we actually didn’t know that until our first trip together. When you’re very young, let’s say 6 years old, you don’t like hanging out with your 1 yo cousin, but when you’re older, let’s say 25, you don’t mind spending time with your 20 yo or 19 yo cousin. That’s what happened. The oldest of us, Mary and Olga, always say that Lorenzo and Anastasia started talking 4 years ago, as if they didn’t start talking before 14.
So … yes! We are a group of travellers, everyone coming from a different backgroud even though we are all related. We all grew up far away but saw eachother every Christmas, Easter and summer. We decided to open this blog as an easy solution to our family’s questions like “can you send pictures?”, “what are you guys doing today?”, you know, Italian families are rather big and answering to the same questions 8 times is not cute. But who are we?
The youngest of us is Lorenzo, born in 2001 in a small town near Venice, where he also grew up. Two years ago he and his family moved to Bologna where he is now finishing high school. He is the clown of the group and always answers to serious questions with witty but completely irrelevant remarks. He doesn’t tell us what his hobbies are or what he wants to do when he finishes high school, it’s all a mistery. I know he likes playing videogames but that’s it. He sais that he is here to represent the nerd guy … I don’t think he looks, acts or is nerdy, he isn’t the nerdiest of us either. One thing is certain: his pictures on instagram get the most likes.
Anastasia was born on the 2nd of January 2001, so it’s easy to remember how old she is. She lives in Rome and she just gratuated high school. She is the model of the group even if she probably is the shiest. Olga and Mary sometimes fool around saying that she is a very “girly girl”, and she is, but she has no problem going out looking like a drug dealer when she is tired ad doesn’t want to doll up. She is thinkig of majoring in communication studies or social studies, we hope so, maybe this way our blog will have a chance.
About the nerdiest one … Olga was born in Vasto in 1995. She lived all of her life in a very small town in the southern part of Italy called Portocannone but she left when she had to move to Bologna for college. She graduated in computer science and she is currently finishing her post-graduate program. She always liked math, and she is a big anime fan. She is definitely not a girly girl but not even close to being a tom boy. She became a feminist when she realized that her collegues (95% are guys) needed some education on everything female.
The oldest one is Mary, born in 1994. She is Olga’s sister and she is maybe the exact opposite of her. She lives in Bologna with her sister, she also studied there but while Olge is a scientist Mary is a performer: an opera singer. She is one of the other contestants for the nerdies cousins : she LOVES videogames, she is a classical music nerd and she likes sci-fi books and movies. She may be the oldest but she doesn’t like that responsability so she alwats tells that story when she sold her “birthright” to her sister for some beans soup.
